Hi Emily,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us. To answer your question, our factory thoroughly cleans the production lines prior to each production. Every batch is also checked for levels of PPM (parts per million) gluten. Currently, the FDA requires that Gluten Free products must test for 20 PPM gluten or less in order to be considered gluten free.
Our products are certified gluten free by the Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO). The GFCO has very strict requirements. In order to be certified, products must contain less than at 10 PPM gluten. During internal tests our products have tested for less than 5 PPM gluten.

Regarding a terrible experience I had with Jamba Juice - very impressive:
Emily,
I just received word of the poor customer service you experienced at my store regarding your gluten allergy. I sincerely apologize for this on my staff's behalf. I assure you that we take food allergies seriously at Jamba Juice, and I am very regretful that this experience did not illustrate that to you.
Though the employee you consulted with did not find the correct page in our ingredient binder, he was accurate in assuring you that none of our smoothies contain gluten. The Pomegranate Heart Defender was a smoothie a few years ago containing the Heart Happy boost, a substance that did indeed contain gluten. It is no longer on the menu and we no longer offer that boost.
Our current boosts are all non-gluten, as are all of our juices, frozen dairy, and frozen fruits. The baked goods, granola (for our Ideal Meals--yogurt parfaits) brown sugar crumble (for the oatmeal), and wheatgrass contain gluten. You can order from our Classics, Pre-Boosted, Creamy Treats, and All Fruit sections with the peace of mind that you will not get sick.
I have since educated each Team Member on the location of the allergen reference sheet in the ingredients binder, so as to ensure we have a confident answer to the questions that you or any other valued customer have regarding allergen information.
I apologize once again for this incident, and I thank you for the opportunity you have given us to correct it. Please enjoy a free smoothie of your choice upon your next visit-- just tell the cashier your name. We hope to see you back soon.
