A look into my world...

#DearReader

Gotta check out this video... it was made by a college student as a project for one of her classes.

Awesome stuff.

Friends are FABULOUS

#DearReader

I need to take a minute and write a post about how AWESOME my friends are. When it comes to food, at least in my life, everyone around me knows that I am gluten free. Now I will admit there are MANY times when I get super frustrated with it, but my friends are so wonderful and there to support me! It always makes me smile when I get a text or a picture of something that is gluten free and my friends think of me. Most of the time they are of products I don't know about or they are being sold somewhere that I never knew! Just the other day I had a study date with a new friend who texted me saying, "I got a flyer in the mail that said this place has a gluten free menu." As it turns out it was Eclectic Cafe and I otherwise would have never known that they have a huge gluten free menu! I plan on eating here on a regular basis now. How great to have a new restaurant to satisfy my cravings.

Here are just a few of the awesome texts I've gotten from several friends... Thank you all for being so supportive! I know its super annoying to eat with me, but you are fantastic people for still trying. I love you all so much!!

I received this text from a friend that Jelly Bellies are GF. At least the easter flavors are!

One of my friends found GF "cookies and stuff at the movie theater" !!! AWESOME. Even better I found out it's at the CHEAP THEATER (Grant/Swan) Which is a DOUBLE SCORE because I LOVE the cheap theater and refuse to see movies at the regular theater. ($3 vs. $10... I mean c'mon it's an obvious choice).

So my BFF and I were trying to find somewhere to have lunch the next day. I eat at chipotle every week, sometimes multiple times a week. I'm getting to that point where I just can't hardly eat there anymore. I'm also getting sick of every other restaurant in my neighborhood radius in Tucson so I was whining a lot last week about where to eat food. I know I should cook at home more, but my schedule is sometimes just SO busy I really don't have time and end up eating out a TON. Anyways... she's pretttty awesome :D

My bosses daughter found GF muffins at AJ's for me!

Even if your friends aren't gluten free, they can still be supportive and important in helping you succeed in your gluten free journey. None of my friends are gluten free, and most had no idea what "gluten" was before I was diagnosed... Now most of them can give you a relatively complete list of foods with and without gluten. My best friends can also tell you almost every restaurant in Tucson with GF menus :) Friends and family can be your best advocate. It is awesome what education can do... Start with your own friends and family. Soon the whole world will understand how to best cater to our GF needs.

Much Love,

Emily
